December 2011 Exam Schedule

EXAM SCHEDULE DECEMBER 2011-STUDENT GUIDELINES
If a student has an 85 average or higher in your semester class and has 2 absences or less, he or she can be exempt. (Nine weeks classes have different exemption rules.) If a student has missed no days, his or her last day could be Monday, December 13th.
On Wednesday, if a student is exempt from 4th block exam, he or she can leave at the end of 3rd block without checking out.
On Thursday, if a student is exempt from 3rd block exam, he or she can leave at the end of 2nd block without checking out.
On Thursday, if a student is exempt from 2nd block exam but has to take 3rd block exam, he or she can wait to come to school at the beginning of 3rd block.
On Friday, if a student is exempt from 1st block exam, he or she does not have to come to school that day.
On Friday at the end of first block, students can leave without checking out.

Interact Club
HHS welcomes a new Interact Club!
Partnering with the Hernando Rotary Club, HHS began an Interact Club this Fall. With over 70 new members, they are off to a wonderful start! Their projects this Fall include a canned food drive and Operation Christmas Child.
A big thanks to the new sponsors, Angela Gregg and Holly Neel, and to the Hernando Rotary
Liaison, Alan Sims.

Congratulations to Coach David Lara and Sarah Trest for being nominated as Rotary Teacher and Student of the Month for October 2011!!! They represented HHS on

20 years as a teacher/coach in Mississippi
- 6 years in DeSoto County Schools
- 1 year in Grenada School District
- 13 years in Rankin County School District
Hernando High School for six years 2006- to present
- while at HHS taught:
o MS Studies
o Geography
o American Government -- currently teaching
- Assistant Baseball coach - 2006-2010
- HHS Head Baseball coach - 2010 - present
- Volunteer Bus Driver for:
Football team

- MIMIO training with teachers

*Working to restructure the band field area to convert one practice field into two - for
the band and soccer teams
*Leads the baseball booster club with fundraising efforts and promotes an annual
scholarship each year in honor of Patrick Taylor, a former athlete at HHS.
*Volunteers in the community with events such as the Water Tower 10K.
*A positive Christian influence on his students and players. *Attends sporting events of all kinds to support his students and fellow coaches

ACT Preparation Class
Jane Ross Tutoring will be offering a ACT Preparation course at Hernando High School on December 9, 2011. The class will be broken into two sessions and will last all day in the Library. There is a charge of $60 to register. We encourage Juniors and Seniors, especially those students taking the December 10th ACT, to register for this class. The class size will be limited.
Seniors will have first priority to register beginning the week of October 24th. It will be open to every student to register until the November 22nd deadline. See Mrs. Goss for payments.
This is a WONDERFUL opportunity for HHS Students!!! This organization does classes at most DCS schools along with MUS, Christian Brothers High School, and FACS in Memphis.
