March Rotary Student and Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to Will Brown and Ashley Hawkins!

Rotary Teacher of the Month:
Ashley Hawkins
Mrs. Hawkins outstanding job as Theatre teacher for HHS has been recognized by her administration, she was chosen as the 2010-2011 Hernando High School teacher of the year. Over the last four years Mrs. Ashley Hawkins has built a thriving theatre program from the ground up. She is motivated to guide her students to be independent while producing quality theatre for the school and community. One of the things that makes Mrs. Hawkins stand out is her conviction that there is a place for all students in her program. She is teaching a lot more than theatre technique, she is teaching team work, responsibility, community, acceptance, organization, money management, time management and the most valuable thing she gives her students is the ability to be proud of a job well done. She is allowing the students to invest in themselves.
Her students and the shows she has produces have won numerous awards on the local and state level.  Most recently the theatre department just wrapped up a wonderfully fun and energetic show called “All Shook Up”.  Mrs. Hawkins is also a graduate of Hernando High School.
